Composite steps and a landing beside a stone wall

Composite steps and a wide landing were built up to a sunroom, fitted between a stone knee wall and the porch.

This job in Media in late October 2025 was a set of steps and a landing leading up to a sunroom, squeezed between a stone knee wall and the porch.

Framing

The October 28 photos show the stringers and the first treads going in next to the stone wall. Steps that sit against masonry need a small gap and a way for water to drain, or the framing stays wet against the stone.

Composite treads and landing

The treads, risers and landing are composite, in a color that sits well with the stone. Composite does not splinter, does not need stain and can be washed. Every step has the same rise, which is the first thing building codes and knees both care about.
