D&E Mako Renovation: exterior & finish carpentry done right
We are a small, careful carpentry crew out of Ephrata. Siding, windows, doors, trim, porches, dormers and built-ins, across Lancaster County and the six counties around it.
A small crew of carpenters from Ephrata. We frame, sheathe, side, trim and finish ourselves, and we take the slow parts seriously: the flashing, the blocking, the sill pan nobody sees.
What we do
Ten kinds of work, one crew
Outside and inside the house, plus shops and offices. The same carpenters do every part, so the siding, the window and the trim around it meet the way they should.

A stone house, start to finish
A fieldstone house with a gambrel roof, rebuilt by our crew from the roof framing to the bathroom trim. Every photo below is from this one job.
The gambrel ends stripped back to the old boards.
Roof opened and wrapped, one section a day, closed every night.
New dormers framed into the gambrel and flashed by hand.
The rear addition sheathed in ZIP System, every seam taped.
A long shed dormer, new windows, lap siding on the cheeks.
Inside: a row of Andersen windows cased and ready for paint.
Square porch columns and a beadboard ceiling out front.
Cedar shake gables over tan lap siding, finished in the snow.

Where do you work?
We are based in Ephrata and work in seven Pennsylvania counties: Lancaster, Berks, Lebanon, York, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery.
Do you do the whole job or only carpentry?
We do the carpentry ourselves: framing, siding, windows, doors, trim, porches and built-ins. For roofing, electrical, plumbing and HVAC we coordinate licensed trades we work with and tell you who they are.
How does payment work?
The payment schedule is written into the estimate before work starts. Larger jobs are paid in stages tied to finished work, never all up front.
