A storefront is the face of a business, and the window and door package sets the tone before a customer ever walks in. On this West Chester commercial project we installed a run of black-framed storefront glass and double entry doors, set into a stone-and-frame facade and finished so the entrance reads clean and modern from the sidewalk.

What the West Chester storefront project involved
Storefront systems are larger and heavier than residential windows and doors, and the openings have to be framed, flashed, and sealed to commercial standards. The scope included:
- Framing and preparation of the storefront openings
- Installation of black-framed commercial glass window units
- Double glass entry doors set plumb and square for daily use
- Flashing and sealing integrated with the facade
- Clean trim and transitions against the stone and frame exterior
Why commercial glass work is different
Commercial storefront units carry more weight and see far more traffic than residential doors, so the framing and anchoring have to be built for it, and the entrances must meet the accessibility and safety requirements that apply to commercial buildings. Lancaster and Chester County projects follow the codes published by the International Code Council, and a contractor who works on commercial spaces handles that side of the job.
